Examinations & Investigations
Policy 14 :- Patients
under examination and treatment in various clinics in the OPD may
require special investigations or examination which warrant prescribed
special fee to be paid for such examination/investigation.
These can be grouped in different categories:-
1) Specific to and thereby Integra.. to the medical discipline like KEG,
EMG to Neurology.
2) Investigations which are of general nature like X-ray , Path Lab
etc,.
Policy 15 :-
Provision has been made for investigations /examinations which are
specific to particular discipline to be provided in the clinic itself.
Whereas the general diagnostic facility like pathology lab, x-ray, gamma
camera etc, provision has been made centrally in the diagnostic block of
the hospital. The policy would be that the consultant /clinic will be
initiate a request form for such investigations/examinations and the
patient or lustier attendant would bring the request form to the
diagnostic services counter in the main lobby where he/she will be
required to get the investigations/examinations cost estimated and
computed, deposit the amount at the cash counter and on the authority of
the paid and stamped request form he/she will proceed for the required
examination/investigation. This policy has been made with full awareness
of possible consequences and occasional avoidable inconvenience caused
to the patient. But the same has been adopted to avoid multiple centers
of cash handling by the functionaries. However tills policy of
functioning
will be reviewed after giving a justifiable period of trial.

16:- OPD function and timings
Registration:-
(Regular Clinics)
(Pre-Lunch) - Commence at 8.30 AM and closes at 12.30 PM
(Post Lunch)- Commences at 2.30 PM and closes 4.00 PM
(Special Clinics) - Commences at 2.30 PM and closes at 4.00 PM
(Pay Clinics) -Commences at 4.4 5 PM and closes at 8.30 PM
Consultation:-
Regular Clinics (Pre lunch)
- Commences at 9.00 AM and closes at 1.00 PM
(Post lunch) - Commences at 3.00 PM and closes at 5.00 PM-
Special Clinics - Commences at 3.00 PM and closes at 5.00 PM
Pay Clinics - Commences at 5.00 PM and closes at 9.00 PM
Diagnostic/Special
examinations/procedures -
From 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM and 3.00 PM to 9.00 PM
A retail pharmacy counter
will operate from 8.30 AM to 10.00 PM to cater for dispensing of
prescriptions from various clinics of the OPD. Cash will be .collected
on the pharmacy counter and deposited with the hospital cashier on
closing of the counter after verification/tally of cash memo with stock
quantity sold for the day and balance left at end of the day.
Policy 18 :.- Command and control of OPD
The over all command and contort of the OPD in all respect of its
operations will remain with the Director Hospital Services & through
this position with Medical Director and Chief Executive of the hospital
at par with any other part of (lie hospital. However for routine day to
day administration and logistic support, the officer in charge of OPD
will be the Chief Coordinator. He will function through designated
sectional officers and other medical and non-medical categories of
staff.

19:- Division of Specialities & Their Staffing
Various clinical and para-clinical
disciplines will be framed and named as per accepted nomenclatures
approved by MCI or established practices in the medical fraternity. The
consultants or other specialist appointments in various disciplines will
be filled by specialists possessing MCI approved qualifications for
respective disciplines, however exceptions will be made for competent
faculty (rained and having work experience in U.K, U.S.A, etc. The
speciality departments thus formed and established will be under over
all charge of the designated HOD of respective disciplines and the main
faculty resource will be from speciality qualified specialists. The
hospital patients will be directed to respective disciplines based on
system or organ mobility status. Encouragement would be made for the
clinical specialists to refer patients, to the higher speciality clinics
based on the principle of specialization. However the current practice
broad or basic speciality specialists with particular organ/system
biased experience undertaking management of such patients under their
own care will be respected, subject to periodical patient care
evaluation to ensure that by such practice the quality of patient care
is not being compromised, nor is the patient being deprived of the
expertise and benefits of care under exclusive specialist of the
respective discipline. Thus, in spite of higher speciality clinic with
all their staff, equipment and infrastructure under over all control of
concerned speciality will be also made available to the broad speciality
specialists making use of such speciality facilities subject to their
being found trained and competent to handle those specialty equipments
and this would be under overall co-ordination of parent speciality.
Policy 20 :-Professional Fees
As stated earlier in section
pertaining to terms and conditions of medical staff no professional fee
other than the registration fee will be charged to the patients except
in the pay clinic as explained in the earlier paragraphs. |
