  • Public awareness on HIV/AIDS through regular Essay, Debating and Slogan competitions.

  • Organized Immunology & Rheumatology CME program 2006 in February 2006 at KLE Hospital, Belgaum.

  • Faculty in IRACON 2006 on SLE and Pregnancy.

  • Organized CME program in Immunology 2003 at KLES Hospital, Belgaum

  • Organized CME program in Rheumatology 2004 at KLES Hospital, Belgaum.

  • Faculty in Immunology CME & workshops, at MS Ramaiah Medical Teaching Hospital, Bangalore.

Routine Minor procedures:

  • Intraarticular injections: Knee, Ankle, Wrist, Elbow, Shoulder, Small hand/toe joints, Hip (IP).

  • Intratenosynovial/ enthesial injections: Trigger finger, De’ quervain’s tenosynovitis, Frozen shoulder (Periarthritis), Bicepetal tendonitis, Tennis elbow, Golfer’s elbow, Anserine bursitis.

  • Minor salivary gland biopsy.

  • Skin biopsy.

When to visit a Clinical Immunologist/Rheumatologist:

  • Any Joint pain/swelling back lasting more than 6 weeks

  • Joint/Back pain associated with marked stiffness.

  • Unexplained fever.

  • Unexplained skin ulcer, rash or gangrene.

  • Unexplained kidney failure.

  • Multi-organ diseases.

  • Patients with recurrent infections/chronic diarrhea/HIV/AIDS.

Some common joint diseases:
 

Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Gout.

 

Some mis-conceptions corrected:

  • Joint problems (Arthritis) cannot occur in Children or young people: In fact, these ages can have serious disease of joints.

  • Joint diseases cannot be serious: Untreated Arthritis can not only lead to permanent joint deformities but some serious arthritis like Lupus, Vacuities can also lead to major complications including death.

  • I cannot get arthritis since no one in my family had it: Arthritis may have genetic influence but may not necessarily be seen in some family members at one point in time.
