Introduction

In the year 1996, K.L.E.S. Hospital & M.R.C has started Cardiology Department with fully equipped Heart Hospital, has some of the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and ICCU facilities. While the OPD is equipped with 4 channels, 12 leads state -of-the-art ECG, Marquette Case 16 Stress Test Lab. with signal averaging facility and other conventional protocols. Solid-state Hotter Monitor consisting of Diagnostic Monitoring, Holter Recorder and A.B.P Monitoring Recorder and Acuson XP 28, Image Point and Sonous 4500, Color Doppler Echocardiography with several advanced features.

The pride of this department is the Philips Single Plane Cardiovascular Angiography unit with Digital Sub traction (DSA) and dne loop facility. This latest addition to the department of Cardiology has several advance options such as road mapping, ventricular quantification, coronary quantification and tableside analysis module, etc. Thallium studies and MOGA testing are being undertaken on the Gamma Camera system. In a short span of time, over 7100 Cardiological procedures such as Coronary Angiography, PICA, PTMC and 150 Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, etc has been done. The department is managed by Consultant Cardiologists, Dr. Prabhu C. Halkati, and Dr. Suresh V. Patted. Cardiology Department includes Cardiology OPD, ICCU, Cath-Lab. ICCU consists of Sbeds in Step-up for sick patient, and step down unit has 9beds. There is a general ward, which consists total 39 beds among which 19 beds for female side and 20beds for male patient, Semi. Pvt Ward consists of 26beds; Pvt. Ward consists of total 13 among which II beds for Pvt Ward and 2 beds for Deluxe Room.

The Department of Cardiology is functioning at 2nd floor (Sharawathi) of K.L.E.S Hospital & M.R.C. The Department of Cardiology has been established as K.L.E.S.  Heart Foundation under the Directorship of Dr. M.D. Dixit.
