Paediatric Physiotherapy
The aim of the
Physiotherapy in the disease of Neuromusculoskeletal system,
following birth trauma or head injury, associated developmental
disability or acquired musculoskeletal problem or disease is to
enable the individuals to function as effectively as possible in
everyday life. The physiotherapist regain effectively motor
performances in at least essential everyday activities such as head
control, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking and play.
There are
various specialized techniques for specific motor problems to
initiate dormant motor activity, intensify correction and training
of motor activity.
Physiotherapist
assesses the child's developmental stages in feeding and other self
care, play or sensory motor understanding and in exploration of his
world is observed by the physiotherapist to introduce the corrective
motor patterns appropriately.
We include
different training and treatment techniques such as:-
(1) Vestibular stimulation techniques.
(2) Neurodevelopment techniques.
(3) Reflex Inhibiting Patterns.
(4) Play therapy.
[1] Vestibular stimulation techniques :- All the postural
reactions are dependent on these stimuli in a developmental context.
[2] Body Image training is also stimulation of
proprioception and vestibular input for the visually impaired child.
[3] Abnormal postures caused by persistence of the primitive
reflexes (which have not interrogated at the right age) may lead to
deformities and disability. This could be overcome by Reflex
Inhibility Postures
[4] Neurodevelopment training includes techniques for
facilitation of all the developmental sequences and milestones as
early as possible and helps prevent disability.
