• NICU  graduates and follow them for normal development :
  
  Keeping in mind the large number of babies who are salvaged by hi tech neonatal care, who are at risk for developmental problems and also to cater to those children who are already retarded / handicapped an attempt is been made by the KLES Hospital to set up Child Development Clinic, which is located at G'-' floor (Sagar). The department was started on Aug 23"* 1997, and is functioning well on all working days of the week.

• Delayed children for rehabilitation:
  
  (Various handicapped liked physical, mental, visual, hearing slow learner & behavioral problems in children). Handicapped children require multi disciplinary approach for management comprising of Various specialties, services and aids all available under one roof, the family at large need counseling regarding the handicap, its prevention and rehabilitation.

High Risk Follow Up

At each visit, the following areas of your child's development will be evaluated:

• Physical development: how your child moves, how your child uses his/her body to reach or hold things and how he positions himself.
   

• Cognitive development: your child's ability to learn new things and remember what he/she has learnt, as well as speech and language skills, vision and hearing abilities.
   

• Height, weigh land head circumference
   

• Your child's ability to hear—the foundation of all speech and language activities.
   

• Each child is followed in the developmental follow-up clinic at least till he/she  Is 3 yrs old. Monthly visit is preferred for nutrition and growth assessment in the first year and once in 3- 4 months thereafter. Development has to be assessed every 4 months Each child has to undergo vision and hearing assessment too.
